Randy Donaldson is Broadway royalty — a Tony-nominated producer and seasoned performer who has lit up the stage in 11 Broadway shows and National Tours, including The Lion King (as the hilarious hyena Banzai!), Kiss Me Kate, A Chorus Line, Wonderful Town, Grand Hotel, and Annie Get Your Gun. As a producer, his credits include The Scottsboro Boys (12 Tony nominations), American Son starring Kerry Washington, and The Pee Wee Herman Show.
With a BFA in Theater from Webster University and over 30 years of professional experience, Randy is bringing true Broadway magic directly to our young performers.
In this one-of-a-kind Masterclass, you’ll step into the Pride Lands with the actor who made Banzai famous — learning skills and techniques straight from a Broadway pro!
What You’ll Discover:
• Character Work – Unlock the art of animal movement and personality.
• Stage Makeup – Transform into your favorite Lion King characters with professional techniques.
• Physicality & Movement – Use your body to make characters leap off the stage.
Almost! We do plan to rehearse on most Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from October through April (with breaks for holidays and school vacations), but you’ll only be called when you’re needed. Just like with Annie Jr. last year, we’ll release a detailed rehearsal schedule one month at a time — usually a week or two before that month begins.
October’s schedule will be more flexible since we won’t know the cast yet, but once roles are assigned, families can expect more advance notice.
We can’t wait to welcome our youngest performers to the Savannah! Our current plan is to rehearse with the younger cast on Saturdays and select Wednesdays/Fridays beginning in late February or early March.
Tech Week (or “Tech Weeks” for us!) is when the magic really happens — we move onto the stage, add lighting, sound, costumes, makeup, and set pieces, and bring all the elements together.
All cast and crew are expected to prioritize rehearsals during Tech Week, which runs April 11th–25th.
4th–8th grade cast & crew: Expect to rehearse on most weekday afternoons and Saturdays, often for extended sessions.
PK4–3rd grade cast: You won’t be called for every Tech Week rehearsal, but we’ll share a detailed schedule closer to April.
Nope! You can absolutely join the cast without attending the Workshop.
However… this year’s Workshop will focus on Lion King-specific movement, vocals, acting techniques, and choreography that just might show up at auditions. Plus, you’ll get insider tips on exactly what directors are looking for. As Scar would say — be prepaaaaaared! 🦁
Nope! The $25 registration fee is already included in your Fall Theatre Workshop fee — no extra payment needed. All participants missing the Fall Theatre Workshop DO need to pay the registration fee.
Yes! We’re happy to work with you. Please email LSstageworksllc@gmail.com for details.
Should I register/pay for my child to be in the 4th–8th Grade Cast before or after auditions? What happens if my child isn’t given a role after auditioning?
Registration and payment for the 4th–8th Grade Cast should be completed as soon as possible—this secures your child’s audition slot and guarantees them a role in the show! Every student who registers will be cast in our production. Spots are limited and may fill before the deadline (September 30), so don’t wait—click here to sign up today!
We realize this is a big upfront commitment on a fairly quick timeline, and we’re so grateful to our families for jumping in with us. The good news is that once your child is registered, their place in the production is secure, and they can look forward to an amazing experience filled with music, dance, friendships, and the thrill of performing on stage! If a split-payment option would help your family, please reach out to us at lsstageworksllc@gmail.com—we’d be happy to work with you to make sure your child is part of this exciting journey.
When should I register/pay for my child to be in the PK4–3rd Grade Cast?
Registration is open now and filling quickly! Even though rehearsals for this cast begin in February or March, students can start preparing right away. We’ll provide music and rehearsal tracks so they can begin learning their songs early and feel confident, excited, and well-prepared when rehearsals kick off in the spring. Click here to sign up!
Is there still space in the Fall Theatre Workshop for 4th–8th Grade?
Yes—there are still a few spaces available! The Fall Theatre Workshop begins September 10 and is designed to help students shine at auditions. They’ll build confidence, sharpen performance skills, and even learn some Lion King-specific choreography. Don’t miss this perfect warm-up for auditions—click here to sign up!
